Condensing Boiler Grant
The condensing boiler grant is initiated by the UK government to replace the existing non-condensing boilers with energy-efficient ones. The primary purpose of this boiler grant is to tackle fuel poverty and curb carbon emissions. It will not only decrease your energy bills but help in conserving the environment as well. The condensing boiler grant is provided under the ECO4 scheme.
ECO (Energy Company Obligation) is a government scheme initiated in 2013 in Great Britain to enhance the energy efficiency of eligible households. It is administrated by Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets), the independent energy regulator in the UK. ECO4 is the 4th iteration of this scheme initiated in 2022 and will continue till 31st March 2026.
This scheme promotes measures to help fuel-poor and low-income households reduce their electricity and gas bills. Besides the condensing boiler grant, ECO4 provides funds for improving your home’s insulation.
Both condensing and non-condensing boilers use fuels to warm water and improve the heating system for your space. Non-condensing boilers are conventional ones that are efficient up to only 78%, banned in the UK since 2005. Condensing boilers are relatively more energy efficient as they prevent heat loss to the atmosphere.
Condensing boilers aren’t meant to warm water only; they offer several benefits, such as:
- Their energy efficiency is up to 98% as they recover the latent heat of vaporisation.
- Condensing boilers would curb the toxic gas emissions that cause acid rain and greenhouse greenhouse effect.
- They are easy to install and utilise less space due to their sleek design.
- These boilers’ enhanced energy efficiency helps reduce bills by up to £315 a year, making them a cost-effective option.
